Visit of a cigar factory in Pinar del Rio

Departure to the west of the island, to the Viñales Valley in the province of Pinar del Rio. In the provincial capital of Pinar del Rio, you will visit the Francisco Donatién cigar factory, where you will vividly see the processing of the stored and sorted tobacco leaves into the finished, hand-rolled cigar. The province of Pinar del Rio is considered THE tobacco growing region in the country due to the nature and composition of the soil.

Continue to the Viñales Valley National Park to the village of the same name. On the way visit a small, family-run tobacco plantation on the edge of the national park. After the visit, enjoy a homemade, typical Cuban coffee from the hosts.

Tour of the Viñales Valley

The Viñales Valley, one of the most beautiful scenic areas in the country, enchants with the green growth of the mogotes (cone rocks) contrasting with the red of the clayey soil. A walk through the tranquil village of Viñales, in the center of which you will find the parish church and the Casa de la Cultura, the cultural center built in 1879, as well as several stalls selling souvenirs. Visit to a small botanical garden, run by private individuals, where a variety of plants and flowers of the region grow.

The cave system Cueva del Indio, the only walkable cone rock in the world

The Cueva del Indio, the world's only accessible cave inside a mogote (cone rock). The indigenous Arawak Indians had used the extensive cave system as a dwelling place. Now, board a boat and experience the cave system on the small river that runs underground and leads through the rock back into daylight.

Visit to the Mural de la Prehistoria, a huge painting on rock with prehistoric motifs on the evolutionary history of mankind, impressive for its size alone.
